| Spousal Support
While a dissolution or legal separation action is pending,
the court may order either spouse to pay any amount necessary for the support
of the other spouse. The basic factors for the court to consider in awarding
alimony/spousal support, are the applicant's need and the other party's
ability to pay. Temporary support is thus meant to enable the recipient to
live in his or her accustomed manner pending disposition of the action with
the understanding that a supported spouse must become self reliant within a
reasonable amount of time. |
| Child Support
There are State guidelines which determine how much a parent
should pay for the support of a child. Generally, child support is payable until
the child is emancipated, i.e. until the child reaches 18 years of age or, if not
graduated from high school by that age, then until the age of 19,
whichever occurs first. |
| HOW MUCH SUPPORT OWED?
For the very small fee of $25.00, our firm can calculate for
you what you would reasonably be expected to pay for either child support or
pre-trial spousal support pursuant to California State statutory guidelines.
The means by which we will calculate the support amounts will be to use
the same computer program used by the majority of California family law
attorneys and courts. |
